“I challenge BJP…”: Mamata Banerjee Dares BJP Over Seats and CAA In Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday (March 31) ridiculed the BJP’s ambition of securing over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls and dared them to achieve at least 200 constituencies.

She vehemently opposed the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the state, cautioning that applying for CAA would effectively label an individual as a foreigner and urged people to refrain from doing so.

Addressing her first rally of the election season following her recent injury, Banerjee emphasized that the CAA is a ploy to strip legal citizens of their status and turn them into foreigners. She asserted that neither the CAA nor the NRC would be tolerated in West Bengal.

Taking a swipe at the opposition alliance, Banerjee criticized the INDIA bloc partners — CPI(M) and Congress — accusing them of colluding with the BJP in West Bengal.

She refuted the existence of an INDIA alliance in the state and accused the CPI(M) and Congress of working in favor of the BJP.

Later today, Mamata Banerjee also defended TMC candidate Mahua Moitra, alleging that she was unfairly targeted and expelled from the Lok Sabha for vocally opposing the BJP.
