“Don’t serve food to husband if…”: Arvind Kejriwal

During a townhall event in Delhi called ‘Mahila Samman Samaroh’, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged women not to serve dinner to their husbands if they “chant” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name.

He said, “Apne sarr ki kasam khila dena sabko”.

He emphasized the need to address such behavior among men, stating, “If your husband chants Modi’s name, tell him you won’t serve him dinner.”

The event aimed to engage with women following the announcement of a scheme in the 2024-25 budget, wherein all women above 18 years would receive a monthly amount of Rs 1,000. Kejriwal encouraged women to persuade their family members to pledge their support for him and the AAP.

He also urged women to convey to others supporting the BJP that he, as their brother Kejriwal, stands by them. Kejriwal highlighted his government’s initiatives, such as free electricity and bus tickets, along with the new Rs 1,000 monthly benefit for women, contrasting it with the BJP’s offerings.

Kejriwal criticized previous approaches to women’s empowerment, labeling them as “frauds” and stressing the need for tangible benefits. He announced the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’, asserting that real empowerment would occur when every woman receives financial support.

Describing the scheme as the “largest women empowerment program” globally, Kejriwal emphasized the importance of financial empowerment for women.
