Indian Air Force and Drone Federation of India to co-host Bharat Drone Shakti 2023

The Indian Air Force (IAF), in recognition of the burgeoning potential in indigenous drone design and development, has joined hands with the Drone Federation of India to co-host ‘Bharat Drone Shakti 2023.’ Scheduled for September 25th and 26th, this event will unfold at the IAF’s Hindan airbase in Ghaziabad and will feature captivating live aerial demonstrations, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence.

The deployment of drones in India has seen a remarkable surge, encompassing applications in both military and civilian domains. In a press release, it was emphasized that drone technology has rapidly reshaped both civil and defense sectors by enhancing operational efficiency, mitigating risks, and elevating capabilities. The Indian Air Force has notably amassed considerable experience in utilizing Remotely Piloted Aircraft for Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance operations.

With a view to harnessing India’s burgeoning drone technology sector, the Indian Air Force initiated the Meher Baba Swarm Drone competition, a testament to their confidence in the nation’s drone capabilities. ‘Bharat Drone Shakti 2023’ represents another significant step in leveraging this expertise.

The event is set to shine a spotlight on the vast potential of the Indian drone industry, featuring an impressive lineup of over 50 live aerial demonstrations. These demonstrations will encompass a diverse range of drone applications, including survey drones, agriculture drones, fire suppression drones, tactical surveillance drones, heavy-lift logistics drones, loitering munition systems, drone swarms, and counter-drone solutions, the statement noted.

Moreover, ‘Bharat Drone Shakti 2023’ will witness active participation from more than 75 drone start-ups and corporate entities. Anticipated to attract around 5,000 attendees, the event will serve as a convergence point for a wide spectrum of stakeholders.

Representatives from central government agencies, state departments, public and private industries, armed forces, paramilitary forces, friendly foreign nations, academic institutions, students, and drone enthusiasts are expected to grace the event.

This collaborative effort between the Indian Air Force and the Drone Federation of India underscores the commitment to advancing drone technology and its applications in India.

The event is poised to showcase the capabilities of Indian drones and provide a platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts. ‘Bharat Drone Shakti 2023’ represents a significant stride toward harnessing the full potential of this transformative technology for the nation’s benefit.
