Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced on Monday (April 1) that the country’s defence exports have reached “unprecedented heights,” surpassing the Rs 21,000 crore mark for the first time in the history of Independent India.
In a post on social media platform X, he expressed his delight, stating, “Delighted to inform everyone that Indian Defence Exports have reached unprecedented heights and crossed the Rs 21,000 crore mark for the first time in the history of Independent India!”

Singh further revealed that India’s defence exports for the financial year 2023-24 amounted to Rs 21,083 crore, demonstrating a remarkable growth rate of 32.5 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.
During an interaction with members of the Indian diaspora in Nigeria in May 2023, the defence minister underscored the government’s commitment to ‘Aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) and highlighted the significant progress made in defence exports in recent years, aligning with the objective of “Make in India, Make for the World.”
