IndiGo Pilot Assaulted by Passenger Over Flight Delay; Complaint Filed

In a widely circulated video, a passenger was captured assaulting the pilot of an Indigo flight during an announcement about a departure delay at Delhi airport on Sunday.

According to official sources, the incident occurred on Sunday, involving a male passenger who reportedly assaulted Anup Kumar, the pilot of the Delhi-Goa Indigo flight (6E-2175), while he was addressing the delay in departure around 1 pm.

The viral video depicts an agitated passenger rushing from the last row and physically assaulting the pilot. A social media user commented, “A passenger punched an Indigo captain in the aircraft as he was making a delay announcement. The guy ran up from the last row and punched the new captain who replaced the previous crew who crossed FDTL. Unbelievable!”

Crew members can be seen attempting to calm the irate passenger and urging others to remain seated. Following the incident’s widespread circulation on social media, aviation security authorities have taken note and initiated an investigation.

Meanwhile, IndiGo has formally filed a complaint against the passenger, and the process of initiating a case is currently underway, according to airline sources. The Delhi police have assured appropriate action in response to the incident.

On Sunday, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport experienced chaotic scenes as numerous flights faced delays due to dense fog and adverse weather conditions. This resulted in hundreds of passengers being stranded at the airport for extended periods. Officials mentioned that nearly a dozen flights destined for Delhi were diverted due to unfavorable weather conditions on that particular Sunday.
