International Women’s Day Celebrated with Discussion on Ancient Healing Wisdom

The engaging discussion comprised Dr. Shikha Nehru Sharma, Founder of Nutriwel Health & Nutrition Evangelist, and Dr. Advait Sharma, a distinguished Ayurveda Practitioner and Physician. The discussion commenced by exploring the nuanced definition of the ‘modern woman’ and her ongoing battle with prevalent lifestyle ailments such as PCOD, infertility, diabetes and insomnia.

Dr. Shikha Sharma emphasized the pivotal role of nutrition in combating these ailments, citing stress as a significant contributing factor. She advocated for a return to ancient healing methodologies, highlighting the potential of Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation in restoring women’s health. ” What we eat actually determines our overall health and right nutrition can even cure ailments such as infertility. We must include more of raw foods in our diet such as vegetable juice and fruits. To keep our physical bodies healthy, we have to take care of our mental and emotional well-being as well,” she explained.

Dr. Advait Sharma echoed this sentiment, underscoring the simplicity and efficacy of Ayurvedic principles. He emphasized the importance of aligning with nature, suggesting practices like early bedtime and rising, along with the therapeutic benefits of gibberish yoga before sleep. “Packaged foods are responsible for many ailments today. To begin with these should be totally out from our diets,” he highlighted.

The discussion garnered an enthusiastic response from the audience, comprising guests, Bird Group employees, at Upstage, Roseate House New Delhi.

Mrs. Radha Bhatia, the Chairperson of Bird Group and a trailblazing entrepreneur, shared insights on the significance of happiness and simple acts like joyful cooking in enhancing overall well-being. She urged all women to embrace Ayurvedic practices for a healthier lifestyle.

The panel discussion was followed by high tea, where guests also tasted the salad leaves and microgreens that are grown at the hotel itself using hydroponics system. This is a sustainable practice and part of the initiatives that the hotel chain has taken to be more sustainable.
