The Israeli Air Force announced that it had conducted airstrikes on what it referred to as “terror targets and military infrastructure” belonging to Hezbollah in Lebanon. This action was taken in response to an incident of gunfire directed towards Israel on Monday.
In a statement released on X, the Israeli Air Force conveyed, “A short while ago, the Israeli Air Force targeted terror installations and military infrastructure of the Hezbollah terrorist group in Lebanon, as a response to the gunfire directed at Israel yesterday (Monday).”
The Israeli Defense Forces reported earlier on Monday that several military posts situated along the Lebanon border had been subjected to gunfire. The Times of Israel additionally reported an occurrence where an anti-tank guided missile had targeted an Israeli tank.
According to the IDF, the soldiers responded to the source of the gunfire with artillery fire. The IDF emphasized that no casualties resulted from the exchange of fire, as per The Times of Israel report.
Taking to X, the Israeli Defense Forces informed, “In case you missed it: (18:05) Shots were fired toward an IDF tank and posts along the Lebanese border. The IDF responded with artillery fire. (19:49-21:04) Multiple sirens sounded in the areas surrounding Gaza. (21:42) Sirens sounded in the city of Tel Aviv. For 10 days straight, the State of Israel has felt, heard, and personally been attacked by Hamas’ terrorism.”
Another post shared on X by the Israel Air Force disclosed that Osama Mazini, the head of the Shura Council of Hamas, had been killed in an airstrike. The Israeli Air Force claimed that Mazini had been involved in directing terrorist activities against Israel.
Addressing the issue, the Israeli Air Force stated, “The Israeli Air Force and Israel Securities Authority eliminated Osama Mazini, the head of the Hamas terrorist organization’s Shura Council in the Gaza Strip. Mazini was responsible for Hamas prisoners and was involved in directing terrorist activities against Israel.”
On Monday, Israel declared plans to evacuate residents living up to two kilometers from the Lebanon border in the northern region of the country and relocate them to government-funded guest houses. This was announced by the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) of Israel’s Ministry of Defense, in conjunction with the Israeli Defense Forces.
The IDF, in a statement posted on X, outlined that 28 communities had been included in the evacuation plan, which was approved by Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant. The IDF also mentioned that the Northern Command had briefed the local authorities about the decision.
In a statement posted on X, the IDF announced, “A short while ago, the Northern Command briefed the local authorities about the decision. The implementation of the plan will be overseen by the local municipal leaders, the Ministry of Interior, and the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) of the Ministry of Defense.”
The statement added, “The 28 communities covered in the plan include: Ghajar, Dishon, Kfar Yuval, Margaliot, Metula, Avivim, Dovev, Ma’ayan Baruch, Bara’m, Manara, Yiftach, Malkia, Misgav Am, Yir’on, Dafna, Arab al-Aramshe, Shlomi, Netu’a, Ya’ara, Shtula, Matat, Zari’t, Shomera, Betzet, Adamit, Rosh HaNikram, Hanita, and Kfar Giladi.”
Earlier, the Israeli Air Force took to X to announce that it had targeted Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in Lebanon as a response to the gunfire directed towards Israeli territory on Sunday morning.
According to a report by The Times of Israel, at least one civilian was killed when six anti-tank guided missiles were fired towards an Israeli town and military outposts near the Lebanon border. Additionally, nine rockets were fired at Nahariya, a city in the north, and nearby towns. However, there were no reports of casualties.
