The Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday designated THE PEOPLE’S Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), which is thought to be a branch of the Pakistani terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), as a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
A notice from the MHA claims that the PAFF first appeared in 2019 as a front group for the JeM, a designated terrorist organisation.
“The PAFF often publishes threats from foreign states against Indian security personnel, political figures, and citizens engaged in activity in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the notification, the PAFF is actively engaging in physical and online conspiracies with other organisations to carry out lethal terrorist actions in J&K and other important Indian cities.
According to the notification, “The PAFF, together with other organisations, is engaging in the radicalization of impressionable young for the goal of recruiting and training in the use of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.”
The MHA on Friday named Arbaz Ahmad Mir, a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba who is now residing in Pakistan but is originally from J&K, as a “individual terrorist.” According to authorities, Rajni Bala, a teacher, was killed intentionally in Kulgam in May of last year, and Mir was the prime suspect in that crime.
The notification read, “He is involved in organising terrorism in the Kashmir Valley and helping terrorists by smuggling illegal weapons or ammunition across the border.”
