Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his satisfaction that there are now more than 50 crore Jan Dhan accounts.
An official announcement stated that this accomplishment demonstrates the government’s dedication to ensuring that banking services are available to everyone.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his happiness at this accomplishment and emphasized the role that women’s empowerment played in it.
“This is a significant milestone. It is heartening to see that more than half of these accounts belong to our Nari Shakti,” he said. The term “Nari Shakti” refers to the collective power and strength of women.
PM Modi highlighted in his tweet that initiatives to promote financial inclusion have a wide-ranging impact by writing, “With 67% of accounts opened in rural and semi-urban areas, we are also ensuring that the benefits of financial inclusion reach every corner of our nation.”
Millions of unbanked and underbanked people have entered the official banking system thanks to the Jan Dhan Yojana, which was introduced in August 2014.
It attempts to offer financial services to people who were previously shut out of the banking industry, such as savings accounts, insurance, and credit facilities.
The Jan Dhan program’s effectiveness in closing financial gaps and empowering people across the nation is demonstrated by its ability to reach rural and semi-urban areas and by the significant percentage of women who participate in it.
