Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has taken charge of crucial portfolios, including Home and Personnel, as he allocates responsibilities among ministers in his newly formed government.
CM Soren has retained significant portfolios such as the Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms, and Rajbhasha, along with the Department of Home, Cabinet Secretariat, and Vigilance, reflecting his commitment to key administrative functions.
In the distribution of ministries, Basant Soren has been entrusted with the responsibility of road construction, building construction, and water resources, underlining the government’s focus on infrastructure development.
Bebi Devi, previously the excise minister, has been assigned the portfolios of Women and Child Development, as well as Social Welfare, indicating a prioritization of welfare and empowerment initiatives.
Other key appointments include Banna Gupta, who will oversee the Department of Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare, along with Disaster Management. Rameshwar Oraon takes charge of the Finance Department and the Department of Commercial Taxes.
Alamgir Alam of the Congress party retains his position overseeing Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Rural Works, ensuring continuity in rural-focused policies.
Satyanand Bhokta has been entrusted with the Labor and Industry portfolios, highlighting the government’s emphasis on labor welfare and industrial growth. Badal continues as the Minister for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, crucial sectors for the state’s economy.
Hafizul Hasan has been appointed to oversee Minority Welfare, Registration, Tourism, Sports, and Youth Affairs, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive development and promotion of tourism and sports activities.
The allocation of portfolios comes after CM Champai Soren’s swearing-in on February 2, followed by the successful passage of a floor test on February 5, where the coalition government secured a comfortable majority of 47:29.
With the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) holding 29 seats and its ally Congress with 17 seats, the government demonstrated a strong mandate, signaling stability and confidence in its ability to govern effectively.
