After Congress’ landslide victory in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, all eyes are on who is going to take the oath as the new CM of the state. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee DK Shivakumar and former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah are the frontrunners for the post. On Tuesday, both the candidates met the president of the Indian National Congress Mallikarjun Kharge at his Delhi residence. Now, news comes in that Kharge is likely to announce the name tomorrow in Bengaluru.
According to a report in ANI, the decision will be taken after consulting Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Earlier today, Kharge met DKS and Siddaramaiah in New Delhi. Siddaramaiah was accompanied by his son Yatindra and MLAs Zameer Ahmad, Bhyrati Suresh, and Cong leader KJ George.
Meanwhile, former party president Rahul Gandhi also had a meeting with Kharge on Tuesday.
Congress won by a huge margin in the Karnataka Assembly elections. The party won 135 seats while BJP could manage 66 seats. JD (S), on the other hand, got 19 seats.
In related news, DK Shivakumar also warned that he would file a defamation case against the media channels that are making a false claim over his resignation.
ANI quoted Shivakumar as saying, “If any channel is reporting that I am resigning from the post, I will file a defamation case against them. Some of them are reporting that I will resign. My mother is my party, I built this party. My high command, my MLAs, my party are there.”
