During the Karnataka Congress government’s demonstration against the Centre at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Wednesday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that their primary objective is to safeguard the state’s interests and the welfare of Kannadigas.
“We are conducting this protest in New Delhi to ensure that the central government fulfills its financial commitments to us. We anticipate that the government will heed our protest, and our primary goal is to safeguard the interests of the state and Kannadigas,” stated the Chief Minister.
He invited BJP MPs, MLAs, and leaders to join the protest, urging them to unite in raising their voices for the state’s rights. Siddaramaiah, accompanied by Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, participated in the demonstration against the central government at Jantar Mantar.
The chief minister presented statistics highlighting alleged injustices, betrayals, and what he termed “stepmotherly” treatment towards the state of Karnataka. Addressing a press conference, Siddaramaiah stated, “It is our responsibility to seek justice for the mandate given to us by the people of the state. We patiently waited for the central government to deliver justice in the federal system, acting as promised in last year’s budget.”
He mentioned the Union Government’s commitment of 5300 crores for the Upper Bhadra scheme in the previous year’s budget, with no funds released thus far. Additionally, he highlighted the absence of funds for drought relief.
Asserting that the protest is not a political move against the BJP, Siddaramaiah clarified that it is a necessary demonstration drawing attention to the central government’s alleged discriminatory financial distribution and neglect in drought relief.
