Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, addressing the Delhi Assembly on Saturday, asserted the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) determination to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2029.
Kejriwal highlighted the resilience of the AAP amidst threats and attacks, emphasizing, “How will you arrest the thought behind Kejriwal?” He attributed the relentless attacks against the AAP to its emergence as a formidable challenger to the BJP nationwide. Kejriwal stated, “If there is any challenger to the BJP in the whole country, it is the AAP.”
Asserting the AAP’s growing prominence, Kejriwal noted its transformation into the third-largest party in the country within just 10 years. He projected the AAP’s potential role in dislodging the BJP from power in the 2029 elections, underscoring the BJP’s apprehension towards the AAP’s progressive governance initiatives.
Kejriwal also addressed challenges faced by the AAP government in Delhi, particularly regarding administrative hurdles imposed by central authorities. He criticized attempts to curtail the AAP’s authority over administrative matters, citing obstacles in personnel transfers and Supreme Court rulings.
Moreover, Kejriwal issued a direct challenge to the BJP regarding its purported intentions to abolish the Delhi Assembly post the 2024 elections. He urged the BJP to clarify its stance on this matter, reaffirming the AAP’s commitment to contest elections based on transparency and accountability.
In a defiant tone, Kejriwal dared the BJP to resort to further measures to impede the AAP’s progress, including the arrest of its leadership. Despite challenges, Kejriwal highlighted the unity and dedication of AAP legislators, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to serving the people of Delhi.
