Major Security Operation in J&K,2 LeT Terrorist Associates Arrested

In a significant breakthrough, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir conducted a successful operation leading to the arrest of two terrorist associates affiliated with the Pakistan-based proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The arrests took place in Srinagar district on November 21, and a substantial cache of arms and ammunition was seized from the suspects.

The apprehended individuals were identified as Mumtaz Ahmad Lone and Jahangir Ahmad Lone, both residents of Trehgam, Kupwara. The joint operation involved the collaboration of Srinagar Police and a Quick Response Team from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

According to officials, the operation was launched following intelligence about the movement of suspected terrorists along the National Highway bypass. A robust checkpoint was established near the Sham Lal petrol pump, N R Colony, at the NHW bypass.

During the checkpoint inspection, a white Santro car with a Jammu and Kashmir registration attempted to evade the police presence. However, the security forces tactfully apprehended the suspects, preventing their escape. Subsequent searches of the vehicle led to the discovery of a significant arsenal, including two pistols, four magazines, two filler magazines, and eight grenades.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention Act) (UAPA), Explosive Act, and Arms Act at Batamaloo police station. The investigation is underway to gather more information and insights into the activities and affiliations of the detained terrorist associates.

The successful operation reflects the continued efforts of security forces to maintain peace and security in the region by targeting and neutralizing elements linked to terror outfits operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
