A man from Ghaziabad was arrested on Thursday for religious conversions through online game. On interrogation, Khan’s name surfaced in the case. Ghaziabad police then alerted Mumbra police regarding the religious conversion racket by Khan, which is being operated through an online game.

During further investigation by Mumbra Police, A 23-year-old man from Alibaug was taken into
custody for reportedly using computer games to convert kids to Islam. The accused, Shahnawaz Maksood Khan, a native of Mumbra, is said to have targeted young gamers of “Fortnite” using the name “Baddo.”

According to the police, Khan and his family have been on continuous move for the past few
days and the police also discovered his house in Mumbra to be locked. According to Mumbra DCP Ganesh Gawade, they traced him to Alibaug’s cottage and arrested him on the basis of technical intelligence.

This case of religious conversion racket was uncovered only after the Uttar Pradesh Police discovered a conversion scheme in which young people were allegedly targeted via the online game “Fortnite” and were persuaded to change their religion. There is still further investigation going on in the case.
