Mau District Wall Collapse; CM Yogi Announces Compensation for Victims

Mau, Uttar Pradesh: In a heartbreaking incident, six lives were lost and 22 others sustained injuries when a boundary wall collapsed near Ghosi roadways in Mau district on Friday. The victims, including four women and two children, were part of a group heading to celebrate the Haldi ceremony at a residence in Kasba Ghosi.

Reacting promptly to the tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakhs each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured. Expressing condolences, CM Yogi conveyed his wishes for the swift recovery of the injured and instructed district administration officials to ensure immediate hospitalization and proper treatment.

“All injured individuals will receive medical treatment free of charge,” stated an official release. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring the injured receive adequate care and directed officials to facilitate their treatment promptly.

The wall, located near a private school in Madapur Samaspur, Ghosi Kotwali area, collapsed during the procession to the Haldi ceremony. Local authorities, upon receiving information about the incident, promptly reached the site, providing relief and rescue efforts.

The injured were admitted to various healthcare facilities, including Community Health Centre Ghosi, District Hospital, Fatima Hospital, and PGI Azamgarh. Inspector General of Police, Azamgarh Zone, along with the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police Mau, inspected the incident site and visited hospitals to ensure proper treatment for the injured.

While expressing grief over the tragedy, CM Yogi Adityanath assured that peace, law, and order were normal, with vigilant measures in place. Legal actions are being taken, and a thorough investigation is underway, as authorities work to determine the cause of the wall collapse.

The Mau Wall collapse tragedy serves as a somber reminder of the need for stringent safety measures and thorough inspections to prevent such incidents in the future. The compensation provided by the Chief Minister aims to provide some relief to the grieving families and support those affected by the unfortunate incident.
