Mauritians to Light ‘Diya’ in Ayodhya Pran Pratishtha Celebrations

Ahead of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, the High Commissioner of Mauritius, Haymandoyal Dillum, shared the elaborate plans of the Mauritian community’s involvement in this spiritual event. The people of Mauritius are uniting to celebrate this significant milestone by lighting a ‘Diya’ in all temples across the nation and reciting verses from the ‘Ramayan Path.’ High Commissioner Dillum emphasized the symbolic lighting of lamps and simultaneous observance of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in all temples, underscoring the collective commitment to honoring Lord Ram. He highlighted that this event holds great importance not only for India but also for the people of Mauritius, expressing their eagerness to actively participate in the ceremony.

The Mauritian government’s special leave provision for officials during the inauguration further demonstrates the deep connection between Mauritius and Lord Ram. High Commissioner Dillum emphasized the strong bilateral ties between India and Mauritius, citing the recent invitation by Prime Minister Modi to Mauritius as the guest country during the G20. The envoy also revealed plans to send a cultural troupe to Ayodhya, strengthening the multifaceted relationship between the two nations.

Additionally, he recounted the historical significance of Lord Ram in Mauritius and highlighted the government’s decision to grant a two-hour special break for Hindu public officers on January 22, allowing them to participate in local events marking the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. The statement from the Mauritian Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, confirmed the special leave provision for Hindu public officers, recognizing the landmark event symbolizing the return of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the ceremonial installation of the idol of Shri Ram Lalla on January 22, marking the culmination of the seven-day ceremony with Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony.
