Mizoram: Assam Rifles Seize Heroin Valued at Rs 1.93 Crore, Detain Three Individuals

In a recent crackdown on anti-narcotics activities, the Assam Rifles conducted a successful operation resulting in the seizure of narcotics worth approximately Rs. 1.93 crore and the apprehension of three suspects in the Siahatla area of Siaha district, Mizoram. According to an official press release issued on Saturday, the seized narcotics weighed 277 grams.

The individuals apprehended in connection with the incident were identified as Bika (39), Zatluangliana (42), and Tuankhara (56). Notably, among them, Bika was revealed to be a national of Myanmar.

The operation, initiated on February 22, 2024, by the Assam Rifles, was based on specific intelligence regarding the movement of illegal narcotics in the Siahatla region of Siaha District. During the meticulously executed operation, law enforcement successfully recovered 22 soap cases containing Heroin Number 2, with a total weight of 277 grams, valued at Rs. 1,93,90,000 in the international market, as stated in the release.

In a related development, earlier this week, a joint operation involving the Assam Rifles, Hnahlan Police Beat Post, and the Customs Preventive Force Mizoram led to the confiscation of over Rs. 1 crore in cash in the General Area Murlen, along with the apprehension of  three Myanmar nationals, according to an official announcement made on Friday.  Furthermore, in separate operations conducted on the same day, the Assam Rifles collaborated with the Customs Preventive Force Champhai to seize 136 cases of foreign-origin beer valued at approximately Rs. 6.52 lakhs from Mualkawi, Champhai. These coordinated efforts underscore the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies in Mizoram to combat various forms of illicit activities, including drug trafficking and smuggling.
