Modi to visit Rajasthan today to inaugurate part of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan’s Dausa area on Sunday to officially open the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot segment of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone and dedicate road development projects worth over Rs 18,100 crore to the country.

“Prime Minister’s emphasis on the building of excellent road infrastructure as an engine of growth, development and connectivity in New India, is being realised by the construction of a number of ongoing world-class Expressways across the country. One such important project is Delhi Mumbai Expressway, whose first completed section, Delhi – Dausa – Lalsot, will be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.

The Delhi Mumbai Expressway’s 246-kilometer Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot stretch cost more over Rs 12,150 crore to build. This section’s operationalization would shorten the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur from 5 hours to roughly 3.5 hours, providing a significant boost to the region’s economic development.

With a length of 1,386 kilometres, the Delhi Mumbai Expressway will be India’s longest motorway. It would lower travel distance between Delhi and Mumbai by 12%, from 1,424 km to 1,242 km, and travel time by 50%, from 24 hours to 12 hours.

It would connect key towns like as Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara, and Surat while passing through six states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The Expressway would also connect to 93 PM Gati Shakti Economic Nodes, 13 ports, 8 major airports, and 8 multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs), as well as spurs to new planned greenfield airports including Jewar Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport, and JNPT port.

The Expressway will have a catalytic influence on the growth trajectory of all adjacent areas, contributing significantly to the country’s economic change. During the event, the Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for 247 kilometres of National Highway projects worth more than Rs 5940 crore.

This includes a 67-kilometer-long four-lane branch road from Bandikui to Jaipur that would cost more than Rs 2000 crore, a six-lane spur road from Kotputli to Baraodaneo that will cost over Rs 3775 crore, and a two-lane paved shoulder of the Lalsot-Karoli portion that will cost around Rs 150 crore.
