Relentless Rainfall in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh Causes Severe Crop Damage, Sparks Farmer Frustration”
Continuous and heavy rain over three consecutive days has resulted in significant losses for farmers in Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh, with their fields submerged and crops damaged. The District Magistrate conducted an on-site assessment of the agricultural damage and initiated a survey to determine compensation eligibility for affected farmers. District Magistrate Manvendra Singh assured that anyone inadvertently left out of the survey could apply for compensation, which would be disbursed within 72 hours.
Meanwhile, discontent among farmers is on the rise as their crops have suffered extensive damage due to the excessive rainfall. One affected farmer, Pushpa, shared her predicament, stating, “I took a loan to plant these crops, but they have been destroyed by the rain. All of my vegetable crops are ruined, and my fields are inundated.” Another farmer, Munni, echoed the sentiment, lamenting the destruction of her livelihood: “The heavy rain of the past three days has wiped out all my crops. How am I supposed to sustain myself now?”
Furthermore, the relentless downpour in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in widespread waterlogging and road subsidence in lower areas of Sadar district, causing inconvenience for residents. The incessant rain also disrupted traffic in the city.
