Supriya Shrinate, the Chairperson of Congress’s Social Media and Digital Platforms, has raised serious allegations against the BJP-led state government in Madhya Pradesh, accusing it of being involved in a multitude of significant scandals over the course of 18 years. Speaking at a press conference held at the Congress office in Bhopal, she emphasized various scams, including the Vyapam scam, Patwari scam, school dress scam, fake marriage scam, nutrition scam, and farmers’ compensation scam, to name a few.
Shrinate also pointed to a perceived discrepancy in the state’s economic growth rate, alleging that the government artificially inflated it to secure more loans. She questioned the veracity of the development claims, given statistics that showed a significant percentage of the population living below the poverty line and poor health and social indicators.
Furthermore, she contended that the state government had buried Madhya Pradesh in debt, with an astonishing per capita loan burden on every newborn. The state’s debt and liabilities had reportedly surged to a staggering Rs 422,009.37 crore in the 2023-24 budget year, overshadowing the growth rate of revenue receipts.
These allegations and concerns come in the backdrop of upcoming elections in Madhya Pradesh, where voters will cast their ballots on November 17, with the vote counting scheduled for December 3. In these elections, constituents will select representatives for the state’s 230 Assembly constituencies.
