The father of the two children who were brutally murdered in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, expressed deep concern about the unclear motive behind the tragic incident. In a dramatic gesture, he set a motorcycle on fire on Sunday, drawing attention to his frustration and demand for answers.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, a fire brigade team swiftly responded and managed to extinguish the flames. Senior Budaun police officer Alok Mishra arrived at the scene, and discussions were held with the family by the in-charge of the Civil Line police station, Gaurav Vishnoi. They reassured the family that the motive behind the murders would be revealed once the investigation is completed.
According to the police, the perpetrator of the double murder was Sajid, a familiar face in the neighborhood who operated a barber shop opposite the victims’ home. Sajid, known to the children’s father, Vinod Singh, visited their house under the pretext of borrowing ₹5,000. However, after receiving the money, he launched a brutal attack on the children while their mother was preparing tea.
Upon entering the house, Sajid allegedly asked Aayush (11) to take him upstairs to his mother’s beauty salon. Once there, he turned off the lights and viciously attacked Aayush with a knife, slashing his throat. Ahaan (6) entered the room during the assault, and Sajid proceeded to stab him multiple times. He then targeted their other sibling, Piyush, who managed to escape with minor injuries.
Sajid fled the scene with his brother Javed, who was waiting outside with a motorcycle. However, their escape was short-lived as Sajid was later confronted by the police and killed in an encounter, resulting in injuries to a police officer.
Javed, the accomplice, initially evaded capture but has since surrendered to the Bareilly police. In a video message, Javed claimed innocence, stating that he has call recordings proving his brother’s involvement in the crime.
Vinod Singh, the father of the deceased children, is demanding a thorough investigation into the murders and urges authorities to refrain from resorting to encounters. He seeks justice and wants the motive behind the heinous crime to be uncovered.
“I want to understand why this happened,” Vinod Singh expressed, seeking clarity and accountability from the authorities.
