NIA Apprehends Fugitive PFI Master Trainer from Kannur in Kerala Conspiracy Investigation

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended a fugitive master trainer affiliated with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) from his residence in Kerala’s Kannur district on Monday. Identified as Jafar Bheemantavida, the accused had been evading arrest in connection with the PFI Kerala case, which revolves around a conspiracy by the outlawed organization to establish Islamic rule in India by 2047. The NIA, along with the Kerala Anti-terrorism Squad, tracked down Jafar to his residence in Kannur.

Jafar becomes the 59th individual arrested in the case, with the NIA having already charged 60 individuals. Investigations by the NIA have revealed Jafar’s involvement in the clandestine operations of the PFI aimed at establishing Islamic rule in India by 2047. He is suspected to have served as a master trainer for the PFI, responsible for providing weapons training to its members, preparing them for roles in the organization’s Service Team or Hit Squads. These units are tasked with carrying out targeted attacks and employing force as directed by the PFI leadership.

Additionally, NIA’s investigations indicate Jafar’s prior involvement in various attempted murder and assault cases in Kerala. The agency continues its efforts to locate other fugitives implicated in the conspiracy.
