NIA attaches property of Pak-based listed terrorist Basit Ahmad Reshi

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached the property of Pakistan-based listed terrorist Basit Ahmad Reshi in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, as part of its ongoing strong action against terrorists operating from Pakistani soil.

According to the NIA, Reshi’s agricultural land measuring 9.25 Marlas has been attached under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Representatives from the state government and the state police assisted the NIA in the attachment process.

Reshi, a resident of Baramulla, is a ‘listed terrorist’ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and has been operating from Pakistan since his exodus. The NIA said on Friday that, they discovered him funding terror activities and acts in the valley.

This action follows the Thursday attachment of Mushtaq Zargar alias Latram’s Srinagar-based property, the founder and Chief Commander of Al-Umar Mujahideen.

Reshi joined the militant ranks in 2015 and was involved in the planning and execution of a terror attack on the Sopore Police Guard Post, which killed one constable and injured others.

Reshi was previously associated with the banned terrorist organization Hizbul-Mujahedeen before fleeing to Pakistan. Reshi has currently involved in The Resistance Front’s (TRF) terror activities, managing and supplying arms and ammunition as well as funds for TRF from across the border.

To date, the NIA has attached the properties of five designated terrorists: Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in the United States, Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, and Mustaq Zargar alias Latram, Basit Ahmad Pir, and KCF (Panjwar) Paramjit Singh aliasPanjwar in Pakistan.

Furthermore, the NIA recently attached, under UAPA, the Hurriyat Office in Srinagar, which was partly owned by Nayeem Khan, an accused charged in the Hurriyat Terror Funding case.
