The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been called in to investigate the incident a day after Delhi Police received a call about a ‘blast’ near the Israel Embassy. A team comprising NIA officials, the Delhi Special Cell, and the Dog Squad arrived at the Israeli Embassy on Wednesday morning to initiate the probe into the alleged ‘blast’ call.
Simultaneously, Delhi Police, after examining CCTV footage, has identified two ‘suspects’ in the area. While officials have not confirmed their involvement, the individuals seen near the Israel Embassy on Tuesday evening are considered potential suspects in the alleged ‘blast’ incident. The police are working to ascertain their identity and activities at the time of the call through further questioning.
To understand how the suspects reached the area and the route they took, the police are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations. Additionally, a letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador was found near the embassy on Tuesday evening, containing threatening words attributed to a group called “Sir Allah Resistance.” The police are currently examining the contents of the letter.
On Tuesday, Delhi Police responded to a call reporting a ‘blast’ near the Israel Embassy in the Chanakyapuri area. However, upon investigation, no evidence of a blast was found at the spot. The call was received by the Delhi Fire Services around 6 pm, prompting the deployment of the Delhi police crime unit, fire services, bomb disposal squad, and experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory.
While a security guard reported hearing a blast-like sound and seeing smoke, sources from the special cell denied any actual blast. Security in the area has been increased, with police monitoring through CCTV cameras.
