NIA raids 12 locations in J-K in 2022 terror conspiracy case

Multiple teams of the NIA carried out searches at the premises of suspects and OWGs in coordination with security personnel from the Union Territory and the CRPF.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) searched 12 locations in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday as part of its investigation into a case filed last year to uncover criminal conspiracy for carrying out terrorist and subversive activities hatched by the cadres and overground workers (OWGs) of various proscribed organisations and their affiliates or offshoots at the behest of their Pakistani commanders and handlers.

In collaboration with security forces from the Union Territory and the Central Reserve Police Force, multiple NIA teams conducted searches at the homes of suspects and OWGs. The NIA also conducted searches at different sites in Jammu and Kashmir on December 23 last year in the case, which was filed based on information that various proscribed terrorist groups in the former state are promoting terrorist operations. The agency then looked for locations in the districts of Kulgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Sopore, and Jammu.

“They are involved in carrying out terrorist attacks by using cyber-space in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting minorities, security personnel and spreading communal disharmony,” it said.

The NIA had registered the case on its own initiative on June 21, last year.
During a search operation last year, the anti-terror agency recovered various incriminating evidence from suspects’ homes, including digital gadgets, SIM cards, and digital storage devices.
