In response to Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, saying that India is not corrupt, Union Minister Smriti Irani declared on Wednesday, “You are not India, for India is not corrupt.”
“You are not India,” he responds, “because you define dynasty politics and corruption. India rejects dynasties in favour of individual merit, thus now more than ever, people like you should keep in mind the advice given to the British to leave India. Corruption and Dynasty both left India. Merit now has a place in India, according to the BJP leader.
Irani retaliated in response to Rahul Gandhi’s statement that “You killed Bharat Mata in Manipur,” saying that “the entire country has seen Congress leaders clapping and thumping desks when Rahul Gandhi spoke of the death of mother India.”
Rahul Gandhi previously remarked in Parliament, “You killed India by killing the people of Manipur. You are not a patriot; you are a traitor.
Irani responded to Rahul Gandhi’s claims that Manipur has been divided by stating that the state is still a part of India.
Irani added that Rajnath Singh, the minister for defence, Pralhad Joshi, and the ministers for home affairs have all stated repeatedly that the administration is willing to hold a debate on the Manipur issue.
Irani remarked, “We did not flee from it; the opponents did.
Gandhi, who spoke first today as the Lok Sabha debated a no-confidence vote, also made a subtle jab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gandhi made reference to the claims made by the Congress against the government in connection with the Adani-Hindenburg dispute in his first address following his reinstatement as a member of the House following his disqualification following his conviction by a Gujarat court in a defamation case.
The conviction of Rahul Gandhi in the criminal defamation case involving Modi’s surname statement was last week put on hold by the Supreme Court. He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha on Monday.
On Tuesday, the no-confidence motion was discussed in the Lok Sabha.
