Noida Police Arrest Two Men for Transporting Illicit Goods Worth Rs 50 Lakh from Nepal to Delhi
Two individuals have been apprehended by Noida police in Sector 39 for their involvement in the transportation of illicit goods valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh from Nepal to the Rohini area of Delhi, a police official confirmed.
The arrests occurred during a routine check on Saturday, where the suspects were found in possession of banned Chinese e-cigarettes and cannabis (ganja).
“During a check conducted by the sector 39 in-charge inspector and his team, two men were arrested with prohibited e-cigarettes and illegal ganja. Their vehicle was also seized. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that these items were being brought in from Nepal for distribution in the Rohini area of Delhi,” stated DCP Noida, Vidya Sagar Mishra.
While details about storage facilities are yet to be uncovered, it has come to light that the arrested individuals had previously delivered a shipment of illegal goods in the Rohini area. This aspect of the case is currently under investigation.
DCP Noida, Vidya Sagar Mishra, provided insights into the significant seizure resulting from the operation. “Approximately 1000 e-cigarettes were seized, valued at around 50 lakhs. Each e-cigarette costs between Rs 5000 to 6000. We have identified the individual responsible for sending these illicit items from Nepal, and further action will be taken as we gather more information,” Mishra stated.
