Non-local Guide Shot by Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian District

In a disturbing incident, terrorists targeted a non-local guide, Ranjit Singh, in the Padpawan area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. Singh, who was accompanying foreign tourists, was attacked while having dinner at a local restaurant.

The assailants, with their faces concealed, stormed into the eatery and opened fire at Singh, causing grievous injuries. He sustained three bullet wounds and was rushed to Srinagar Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Law enforcement authorities swiftly cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators behind the cowardly attack.

This incident marks the latest in a series of assaults on non-local individuals in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months. In February, two non-locals lost their lives when unidentified terrorists opened fire on them in Srinagar.

Amritpal Singh, hailing from Amritsar, succumbed to his injuries on the same day, while another victim named Rohit, injured in the gunfire, passed away the following day at the hospital.

The recurrence of such targeted attacks underscores the persistent security challenges faced by non-local residents and visitors in the region. Authorities continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all individuals in Jammu and Kashmir amidst the threat posed by terrorism.
