Om Birla Suspends 3 More Congress MPs, 146 Suspensions till Now

In a significant development, three Congress Members of Parliament – DK Suresh, Nakul Nath, and Deepak Baij – were suspended from the Lok Sabha on Thursday. The suspension comes as the MPs persistently pressed for a discussion on the Parliament security breach and sought a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The decision to suspend the Congress MPs was preceded by a warning from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla earlier in the day. Birla cautioned the three MPs against engaging in protests within the House, emphasizing decorum and parliamentary rules. This move comes against the backdrop of an escalating number of suspensions, with over 145 lawmakers from various opposition parties having already faced similar action.

The ongoing tension in the Lok Sabha reflects the persistent demand from the opposition, particularly the Congress party, for a thorough discussion on the issue of the Parliament security breach. Additionally, the opposition seeks a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the incident.

The suspensions underscore the challenges faced by the Lok Sabha Speaker in maintaining order and conducting the proceedings of the House amidst heightened political tensions. The situation adds to the series of disruptions witnessed in recent parliamentary sessions, impacting the effective functioning of the legislative body.

As the suspension of MPs continues to be a point of contention, it remains to be seen how this development will influence the dynamics within the Lok Sabha and whether it will lead to a resolution of the demands put forth by the suspended members of the Congress party.
