Oppo’s Watch X: Powered by Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC – Is It the Next Big Thing in Wearables?

Oppo has introduced its latest smartwatch, the Oppo Watch X, promising advanced features and prolonged battery performance. Launched initially in Malaysia, the Oppo Watch X is speculated to be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Watch 2, revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in February.

The Oppo Watch X boasts a vibrant 1.43-inch AMOLED display, complemented by the power-efficient Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset. The device offers remarkable battery endurance, delivering up to 48 hours of usage in Smart Mode for heavy users, an impressive 100 hours in standard Smart Mode, and up to 12 days in Power Saving Mode.

Available in Mars Brown and Platinum Black color variants, the Oppo Watch X is priced at MYR 1,399 (approximately Rs. 24,500) for the single Bluetooth variant, accessible through the official Oppo website. While currently launched in Malaysia, its availability in other markets remains uncertain, though reports hint at a potential release in China slated for March.

In terms of specifications, the Oppo Watch X features a circular 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, ensuring crisp visuals with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and protected by a 2.5D sapphire crystal screen. Driving the smartwatch’s performance is the Snapdragon W5 chipset, facilitating the smooth operation of Wear OS apps, supplemented by a BES2700 chip for managing background tasks. The device also offers 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

Health and fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the Oppo Watch X’s comprehensive tracking capabilities, including all-day sleep monitoring, heart rate tracking, blood oxygen (SpO2) measurement, and activity reminders. With over 100 sports modes and advanced cardio machine recognition, users can tailor their fitness routines efficiently.

Fueling the Oppo Watch X is a robust 500mAh battery, capable of rapid charging, reportedly reaching full capacity in just 60 minutes. Whether for heavy usage or extended standby, the smartwatch delivers consistent performance, ensuring users stay connected and informed throughout their daily activities.
