After Congress’ thumping victory in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, several opposition parties are said to be meeting in a bid to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. Around 12 opposition parties from across India are expected to meet in Patna later this month. With Bihar CM and JD (U) Chief Nitish Kumar at the helm of this opposition huddle, the all-party opposition meeting will have in attendance leaders from Congress, RJD, JD(U), TMC, Samajwadi Party, DMK, AAP, JMM, Shiv Sena (UBT) and CPI (M).
If sources are to be believed, the agenda of the meeting is to decide on a common opposition front to take on the BJP in 2024.
Meanwhile, TOI quoted a top leader in Nitish’s party as saying, “The opposition meeting will be held in Patna but its date will be finalized after the formation of the Congress government in Karnataka. Right now, top Congress leaders are busy finalizing the name of the Chief Minister and the date for the swearing-in ceremony in Karnataka. After that, we will speak to all major stakeholders and decide the date for the Patna meeting.
