There was a startling security breach during the India vs. Australia ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, which briefly stopped play.
An encroachment occurred where a Palestinian supporter who was pushing for ‘Free Palestine’ was able to get past the tight security, approaching players and even giving Virat Kohli a hug before being quickly taken into custody.
Upon approaching Virat Kohli and giving him a hug, he was observed sporting a ‘Free Palestine’ T-shirt. Even though the Narendra Modi Stadium has robust security measures in place, this intrusion calls into doubt the effectiveness of such measures. The match, which began with much enthusiasm and expectation, took an unexpected turn for India when they lost three wickets in rapid succession to Australia.
