The announcement was made at a ceremony held by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) at the historic Olympic House in Lausanne.
The hockey tournaments of the XXXIII Olympiad will be hosted at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium in Colombes, near Paris, an arena with a rich Olympic history dating back to 1924. Twelve men’s and twelve women’s national teams will vie for the prestigious Olympic medals, with the Dutch women and Belgian men entering as the reigning gold medalists from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Both the men’s and women’s hockey tournaments at Paris 2024 will kick off on July 27. The opening match will feature Great Britain facing off against Spain in the men’s Pool A match. Simultaneously, the women’s competition will commence with Argentina, the silver medalists from Tokyo 2020, starting their campaign against the USA in the women’s Pool B encounter.
The pool stages for both tournaments will run until August 3, followed by knockout matches starting on August 4. The medal matches for the men’s hockey event will take place on August 8, with the women’s tournament medal matches scheduled for August 9.
Ticket sales for the hockey tournaments at Paris 2024 have also commenced today, offering fans the opportunity to witness the thrilling matches firsthand.
Men’s hockey, introduced at the Olympic Games London 1908, will mark its 25th appearance at the Olympic Games during Paris 2024, while women’s hockey, which debuted at the Olympic Games Moscow 1980, will feature in its 12th consecutive edition at the event.
