On Monday, Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister and Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, called on Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to initiate a discussion on the Manipur situation at 2 pm today. The request was made amidst protests from opposition members who insisted on a discussion under Rule 267, which includes voting. However, Goyal emphasized that the government is already prepared to conduct a discussion under Rule 176.
“We are eager to have discussions on the Manipur issue in Parliament today at 2 pm. The opposition is attempting to misuse the privileges afforded to its members. The government is fully prepared to address the concerns related to Manipur,” Piyush Goyal stated.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal further accused the opposition of avoiding a proper debate and causing disruptions for the past nine days. Since the monsoon session of Parliament commenced on July 20, opposition members have been pressing for a discussion under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha.
