Highlighting the comprehensive efforts made by his government to alleviate the challenges faced by farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Rs 30,000 crore has been disbursed to each beneficiary under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. During a video conference with beneficiaries of the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra,’ the Prime Minister noted that previous governments had a limited scope in addressing farmer-related issues.
The ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ aims to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out of government schemes. Since the yatra’s initiation, approximately 12 lakh new beneficiaries have applied for free gas connections through the Ujjwala scheme. Additionally, over 2 crore health check-ups and screening for Tuberculosis have been conducted during the yatra.
While discussions on farmers and agricultural policies have been common in the country, Prime Minister Modi pointed out that the focus of previous governments was narrow. He mentioned that the talk of farmer empowerment was confined to crop production and sales, overlooking the broader challenges faced by farmers in their daily lives. In response, his government has made comprehensive efforts to address all aspects of farmers’ difficulties.
The ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ has garnered participation from 11 crore people within a short period. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the yatra represents not only the government but the entire nation. He characterized it as a journey of dreams, aspirations, hopes, and resolutions, where the government aims to connect with every citizen through its schemes.
The overarching objective of the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra is to ensure that no deserving individual is excluded from the benefits of government schemes. Prime Minister Modi reiterated his commitment, referred to as “Modi’s guarantee,” to reach every deserving person in villages and connect them with the advantages of government initiatives. The yatra achieved a significant milestone on January 5, with the participation of over 10 crore people in just 50 days.
