PM Modi Begins Two-Day Assam Visit, Set to Inaugurate Key Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for a two-day trip to Assam, starting on Friday, during which he will kick off and lay the groundwork for multiple development initiatives. Upon his arrival on Friday evening, PM Modi will stay in the Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO Heritage Site famed for its one-horned rhinoceroses. The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced in a press briefing on Thursday that the Prime Minister would be spending considerable time in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve during his visit. “PM Modi is expected to land at Tezpur airport by 4 pm on Friday and will head straight to Kaziranga. On March 9, around 5:30 am, he will explore the Kaziranga National Park for two hours before proceeding to Arunachal Pradesh. Following his engagements there, he will visit Jorhat at about 1:30 pm…” mentioned the Assam CM. On Saturday, PM Modi is set to unveil the Tinsukia Medical College and establish the foundation for Sivasagar Medical College as part of the PM-DIVINE initiative. “The Prime Minister will initiate the expansion of Digboi Refinery from 0.65 Million MT to 1 Million MT at a cost of Rs 768 crores and the extension of Guwahati Refinery from 1 million MT to 1.2 million MT, costing Rs 510 crore. Additionally, he will launch a Rs 3,992 crores pipeline project from Barauni to Guwahati…” added CM Sarma. Furthermore, PM Modi will conduct a public rally at Meleng Meteli and inaugurate various projects sponsored by both the central and state governments. He will also conduct the ‘Griha Pravesh’ ceremony for 5.5 lakh homes constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), lay the foundation stone for Sivasagar Medical College, and speak at a public event at Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat. On the 9th of March, the Prime Minister plans to embark on either a Jeep Safari or elephant ride within the national park. Due to PM Modi’s forthcoming visit, the jeep safari and elephant ride in Kaziranga’s Kohora range will be closed from March 7 to 9.
