Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ Indian diaspora event in Abu Dhabi, highlighted India’s growing recognition for its mega infrastructure projects and the success of Digital India. He emphasized that India is now perceived globally as a ‘Vishwa Bandhu’, indicating its role as a global friend and ally. The upcoming inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi was noted as a significant milestone during his visit to the UAE, reflecting the strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd of Indian diaspora members at the Zayed Sports Stadium, PM Modi expressed gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for his support in the construction of the temple, which was initiated in 2015. He underscored the significance of this temple inauguration as a key event during his visit to the UAE.
PM Modi highlighted India’s achievements in various fields, including mega infrastructure projects, tourism, and sports. He also emphasized the success of Digital India, which has gained recognition worldwide. Efforts are being made to ensure that the benefits of Digital India reach the people of the UAE, with initiatives such as sharing the RuPay card and soon-to-be-launched UPI services between the two countries.
Asserting India’s growing influence on the global stage, PM Modi noted that India’s voice is now heard on major international platforms, and it is often among the first countries to respond to crises worldwide. He reiterated India’s commitment to standing with its people at every step.
PM Modi acknowledged the strong bond between India and the UAE, highlighting his frequent visits to the country and the warm reception he received, including Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s presence at the airport to welcome him. He conveyed the message of pride and solidarity from the people of India to the Indian diaspora, referring to them as family members.
Reflecting on the bilateral relations between India and the UAE, PM Modi praised the collaboration in trade, investment, and technology. He noted the UAE’s significant role as India’s third-largest trade partner and seventh-largest investor. The Prime Minister emphasized the shared values of talent, innovation, and culture between the two nations, which have led to the strengthening of their relations in various spheres.
PM Modi highlighted the ongoing commitment to cooperation in Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business, citing the signed MoUs that further enhance these ties. He commended the achievements of both nations in community and culture, presenting them as a model for the world to emulate.
The ‘Ahlan Modi’ event witnessed immense enthusiasm from the Indian diaspora, with registrations surpassing 65,000 attendees. PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi on the second day of his UAE visit before proceeding to Doha on the next leg of his two-nation tour.
