Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the interconnectedness of the world, stating that a globe marred by conflict and confrontation serves no one’s interests.
PM Modi said, “A divided world cannot provide solutions to the major challenges facing humanity. This is the time of peace and brotherhood, a time to move together. This is a time for growth and well-being of all. We have to overcome the global trust crisis and move forward with human-centric thinking. We have to look at the world in the spirit of One Earth, One Family, One Future.”
Highlighting the significance of broader global participation in decision-making, PM Modi mentioned his proposal to incorporate the African Union into the G-20, which received unanimous approval from all member nations. He also expressed his delight at the participation of Pan Africa in the P20 forum.
Furthermore, PM Modi drew attention to the persistent challenge of cross-border terrorism that India has confronted for decades, resulting in the tragic loss of thousands of innocent lives.
“India has reached here today after dealing with many such terrorist incidents”, he emphasized as the world is also realizing the huge challenge of terrorism in the world.
PM Modi continued, “No matter where terrorism occurs, for whatever reason, in whatever form, it is against humanity” as he stressed the need to be uncompromising when dealing with such a situation.
PM Modi also pointed out the global issue of lacking consensus on the definition of terrorism, highlighting that the International Convention on Combating Terrorism is still awaiting a consensus within the United Nations. He emphasized that the adversaries of humanity exploit this international stance, urging parliaments and representatives worldwide to collaborate in finding solutions for the fight against terrorism.
