PM Modi In Mann Ki Baat: India Fully Prepared to Host G20 Summit, Will Showcase Global Potential

India is fully prepared to host the upcoming G20 Summit in its national capital, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent monthly radio broadcast, ‘Mann Ki Baat’. Set to take place next month, this summit, held under India’s G20 presidency, is anticipated to provide a global perspective on India’s potential and growing influence on the world stage. With participation from over 40 countries’ leaders and delegates, the event is poised to mark the most extensive engagement in the history of the G20 Summit.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that India’s G20 presidency is characterized by widespread public involvement in ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He highlighted that 11 Engagement Groups from diverse sectors such as academia, civil society, youth, women, parliamentarians, entrepreneurs, and urban administration have played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the summit. Over 150 million individuals are estimated to be engaged in activities related to the G20 Summit across the country.

The Prime Minister further noted that past G20 delegates who attended meetings in India were greatly impressed by the nation’s vibrant democracy and rich cultural diversity. Approximately 200 meetings associated with the summit were conducted in 60 cities across India. The delegates experienced the country’s cultural richness and dynamic democracy, gaining a greater understanding of India’s potential on the global stage.

Highlighting the impact of India’s G20 presidency, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the promotion of the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, which advocates for locally produced goods. Local artisans have been granted the opportunity to showcase their talents on a global platform, further boosted by events like the ‘Saree Walkathon’ in Surat, in which 15,000 women from various states participated. This event not only bolstered the local textile industry but also strengthened the ‘Vocal for Local’ movement.

In addition, India’s G20 presidency has worked towards fostering inclusivity by inviting the African Union to participate, thus amplifying the voice of African nations on the global stage.

The G20 Summit is scheduled for September 9-10 at the modern Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan in the national capital. Dignitaries like US President Joe Biden, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to attend. The 18th G20 Summit in Delhi will serve as the culmination of a year’s worth of G20 processes, meetings involving ministers, senior officials, and civil society representatives.
