Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with women scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Saturday, who contributed significantly to the ‘Chandrayaan-3’ initiative. He praised their crucial roles in the successful conclusion of India’s inaugural lunar landing operation, during which the nation became the pioneer in placing a lander on the unexplored southern pole of the moon.
Reema Ghosh, a respected senior scientist and an integral member of the Pragyan module team, shared her thoughts about the memorable encounter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She expressed, “It was a wonderful experience. PM Modi paid us a visit. He extended his support and reminded us that the sky is not our limit. Our Prime Minister dedicated significant time to acknowledge our tireless efforts and the sacrifices we’ve made.”
Prime Minister Modi’s interaction with the women scientists associated with ISRO’s ‘Chandrayaan-3’ initiative echoed the crucial role they played in India’s triumphant debut lunar landing mission. This historic feat placed India as the pioneer in successfully landing a spacecraft on the uncharted southern pole of the moon. Nidhi Porwal, another distinguished senior scientist at ISRO, noted with appreciation, “The presence of our leader to commend us is always heartening. It’s a moment of pride for all of us. In ISRO, women constitute around 20-25% of the workforce. This representation is a positive step towards the advancement of women in every domain.”
Reflecting on the Prime Minister’s engagement, Daffini, a senior scientist at ISRO, shared, “It was an immensely gratifying experience for us all. He engaged with every woman scientist. It’s worth noting that there were also men who stood by us to ensure the success of the mission.”
Reddy Saritha, another dedicated scientist, recounted her communication with Prime Minister Modi, saying, “We are filled with pride. The encounter was truly enriching for all of us.”
The sentiment of excitement and recognition was palpable among the scientists. Priyanka Mishra, an ISRO scientist, shared, “We are brimming with enthusiasm. Our accomplishments have been acknowledged. Meeting PM Modi was an electrifying experience for us. Our spirits are high… His recognition and support for ‘Nari Shakti’ (Women Power) is commendable and truly inspiring.”
PL Arthy Sen, who is actively contributing to the Gaganyan mission, emphasized the profound influence of the Chandrayaan project on Gaganyaan. She stated, “Chandrayaan-3 stands as an extraordinary inspiration for Gaganyaan. We are ready…our work for Gaganyaan is progressing. The Mark 3 is all set… Gaganyaan’s outcomes are on the horizon… We are striving to enhance the capabilities of Mark 3… We seek the collective support for Gaganyaan.”
Nithya Bharati, another accomplished scientist at ISRO, expressed her elation, saying, “I take immense pride in being part of this mission. It’s exhilarating that we successfully accomplished this mission.”
Savitri, reflecting on the successful mission, remarked, “We are overjoyed that all elements fell into place, and our systems operated flawlessly, delivering the outcome the entire nation anticipated. We hope our forthcoming missions will achieve similar success… The Prime Minister’s naming of the landing site as ‘Shiv Shakti,’ connecting ‘Shakti’ with ‘Nari Shakti,’ fills us with immense pride…”
Speaking at ISRO’s Telemetry Tracking and Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the substantial contribution of women scientists to the accomplishment of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
He remarked that the landing site of the ‘Vikram’ lander, known as the ‘Shivkshakti’ point on the lunar South Pole, would serve as an inspiration for future generations to pursue science passionately for the betterment of society. He received applause from the audience as he emphasized his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
