Shaheed Diwas is held on March 23 to honour Indian revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, who were hanged by the British government in 1931. In 1928, the trio was convicted of murdering constable JP Saunders in order to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai. When Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were hanged at Lahore Central Jail, they were all 23 years old.
