Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over a ceremonial ‘Chadar’ intended for the 812th Urs of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer Sharif Dargah. The presentation took place at the Prime Minister’s residence, where the Bharatiya Janata Party Minority Morcha national president, Jamaal Siddiqui, received the ‘Chadar’ on behalf of PM Modi. Expressing a message of peace and harmony, Siddiqui emphasized the Prime Minister’s commitment to fostering unity among Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians. The delegation, including Union Minister Smriti Irani and other dignitaries, will offer the ‘Chadar’ during the annual Urs festival in Ajmer, commemorating the death anniversary of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. The Chishti Order founder, known as Garib Nawaz, settled in Ajmer in the 13th century, promoting pacifism and the doctrine of the unity of being with God in the Indian subcontinent.
The delegation will visit Ajmer and offer the chadar on behalf of PM Modi. The Urs festival is an annual festival held at Ajmer in Rajasthan which commemorates the death anniversary of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti.
