PM Modi Speaks to CM Dhami, Takes Updates on Rescue Op

In a proactive move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephone conversation with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today to inquire about the ongoing rescue efforts aimed at freeing 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel since November 12.

CM Dhami shared the details of the conversation through a series of posts on social media. “Respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi called today and took information about the ongoing rescue operation of the workers trapped at Silkyara tunnel, Uttarkashi,” Dhami announced, emphasizing the coordination between central agencies, international experts, and the state administration in executing relief and rescue operations.

The Chief Minister updated the Prime Minister on various aspects of the rescue mission, including progress, medical facilities, and communication with the workers’ families. Dhami assured PM Modi of arrangements made for a team of doctors, ambulances, helicopter services, and the establishment of a temporary hospital to ensure the well-being and care of the trapped workers.

In his post, Dhami highlighted the readiness of doctors at AIIMS Rishikesh in case of any emergencies, underscoring the comprehensive approach taken to address potential health concerns during the rescue operation.

Furthermore, CM Dhami conveyed details about his direct involvement in monitoring the ongoing rescue operations on-site in Uttarkashi. He briefed the Prime Minister about the successful laying of a 45-meter pipeline through an auger machine, a crucial development in the mission to extract the trapped workers from the collapsed tunnel.

The workers, confined for 12 days, are trapped in a 2km-built portion of the under-construction tunnel. The collapse occurred on November 12, with debris obstructing a 60-meter stretch on the Silkyara side. The trapped workers are located in a section that has been completed, including concrete work that enhances safety.

As the nation anxiously awaits the successful conclusion of the rescue operation, Prime Minister Modi’s proactive engagement and assurance of comprehensive support underscore the gravity with which the government is addressing this humanitarian crisis. The collaborative efforts between central agencies, state administration, and international experts demonstrate a unified approach to overcoming the challenges posed by the complex rescue mission.
