“We both have concerns about terrorism & deaths of civilians,” PM Modi speaks to Egyptian President amid Israel-Hamas conflict

PM Narendra Modi spoke with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi about the counteroffensive following the terror attacks on October 7 and the ongoing international efforts to rush humanitarian aid to war-torn Gazans amid the ongoing aerial assault on Hamas in Gaza and the start of an IDF ground operation.
PM Modi posted information about his talks with the president of Egypt on social media, stating that both leaders were concerned about the spread of terrorism and the deaths of civilians in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

“I spoke with President @AlsisiOfficial yesterday. discussed the worsening humanitarian crisis and security conditions in West Asia. Our fears about violence, terrorism, and the death toll among civilians are similar. We concur that humanitarian aid must be made easier and peace and stability must be restored as soon as possible,” PM Modi wrote on X using his official account.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President al-Sisi discussed the most recent developments in the “Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip” and the risk of a further escalation of the war, according to a Facebook post made earlier on Sunday by the Egyptian president’s spokesperson.

The spokesperson went on to say that during the conversation, al-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s ongoing efforts to organize regional and global initiatives to promote a ceasefire.
“President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, in which views were exchanged between the two leaders on the latest developments in the Israeli military operations in the Gaza strip, and the danger of continuing the current escalation — its grave impact on the lives of civilians and the threat it poses to security,” according to a translation of the spokesperson’s post on Facebook.
He went on to say that in his phone call with PM Modi, President ai-Sisi also issued a warning about the possibly terrible humanitarian and security consequences of the ground invasion of the Gaza Strip.

“The President emphasized Egypt’s ongoing efforts to coordinate regional and international efforts to push for a ceasefire, cautioning against the ground attack on the Gaza Strip’s potentially dangerous humanitarian and security fallout and emphasizing the need for Unified International Action to find a swift solution to the situation.” According to the UN General Assembly’s resolution, which was released yesterday evening, October 27, “the diplomatic level includes implementing an immediate humanitarian truce that preserves civilian lives and permits humanitarian aid to enter the Strip immediately and without interruption or obstruction,” the spokesperson stated.

The two presidents expressed their happiness with the development of their bilateral ties as well as the strategic alliance between India and Egypt.
34 trucks carried essential goods, such as food, water, medicine, and medical equipment, from Egypt to Gaza over the course of the weekend on Saturday and Sunday via the Rafah crossing.

Human rights organizations are concerned that not enough help is getting to the Palestinian enclave in spite of their efforts.
UN experts said on Thursday that Israel’s conduct in Gaza amounted to crimes against humanity. They also said that since Israel has closed its border crossings with Gaza, the Rafah crossing, which connects Egypt and Gaza, is still the only practical way to provide aid to the Palestinian enclave.

The Ministry of External Affairs reports that on Sunday of last week, India’s humanitarian supplies for the Palestinian people landed in Egypt.
The relief supplies were given to the Egyptian Red Crescent by the Indian envoy to Egypt, Ajit Gupte, so they could be transferred to Palestine.
