Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate a multitude of development projects in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra on Wednesday.
Having arrived in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, the Prime Minister participated in a program titled ‘Creating the Future – Digital Mobility for Automotive MSME Entrepreneurs’ in Madurai. During this event, he launched two major initiatives aimed at supporting and uplifting MSMEs within the Indian automotive industry.
Today, PM Modi will unveil 36 infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 17,000 crore at VO Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. At a public event in Thoothukudi, he will lay the foundation stone for the Outer Harbor Container Terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port, a significant step towards transforming it into a transshipment hub for the East Coast. This project aims to leverage India’s extensive coastline and favorable geographic location, enhancing the country’s competitiveness in global trade.
Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate various projects aimed at establishing VO Chidambaranar Port as the nation’s first Green Hydrogen Hub Port. These initiatives include a desalination plant, a hydrogen production bunkering facility, and more. Furthermore, he will launch India’s first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under the Harit Nauka initiative, manufactured by Cochin Shipyard, aligning with the nation’s net-zero commitments.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate tourist facilities in 75 lighthouses across ten states and union territories during the program. Rail projects, including the doubling of the Vanchi Maniyachchi – Nagercoil rail line and road projects, will also be inaugurated, aimed at enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time.
Later in the day, PM Modi will attend a public event in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, where he will inaugurate and dedicate numerous development projects valued at over Rs 4900 crore. This includes releasing the 16th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, benefiting over 11 crore farmer families. Additionally, he will disburse the 2nd and 3rd installments of the ‘Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi’ and distribute the Revolving Fund to women’s self-help groups. Furthermore, the Prime Minister will launch the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana, initiate the distribution of Ayushman cards, and dedicate irrigation projects aimed at benefiting the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions. Rail and road projects will also be inaugurated, along with the unveiling of the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay in Yavatmal city.
