PM Modi To Partake In ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir’1st Time Post Article 370

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, where he will unveil development projects worth over Rs 6,400 crore and address a public meeting. This visit is significant as it marks the Prime Minister’s first visit to Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. Rigorous security measures have been implemented at Bakshi Stadium, the venue for the public rally.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir’ program and dedicate a program worth Rs 5,000 crore aimed at boosting the agri-economy in Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative, known as the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), covers horticulture, agriculture, and livestock husbandry, benefiting around 2.5 lakh farmers. The program includes skill development through a dedicated Daksh Kisan portal, the establishment of 2,000 Kisan Khidmat Ghars, and the creation of robust value chains.

In addition to the agricultural focus, the Prime Minister will launch projects in the tourism sector worth over Rs 1,400 crore under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes. This includes the ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ project in Srinagar. Other projects to be dedicated include those in the Northeast circuit in Meghalaya, the Spiritual Circuit in Bihar and Rajasthan, the Rural and Tirthankar Circuit in Bihar, and the development of Jogulamba Devi Temple in Telangana and Amarkantak Temple in Madhya Pradesh.

The Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine project aims to create world-class infrastructure and amenities for pilgrims, enhancing their overall spiritual experience. Key components of the project include site development, boundary wall construction, illumination of the shrine precinct, improvement of ghats and devri paths, construction of a Sufi interpretation center, tourist facilitation center, signage installation, multilevel storied car parking, and public convenience block construction.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will launch approximately 43 projects, developing a variety of pilgrimage and tourist sites across the country. These projects include sites like the Annavaram Temple in Andhra Pradesh, Navagraha Temples in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Sri Chamundeshwari Devi Temple in Karnataka, Karni Mata Mandir in Rajasthan, Maa Chintpurni Temple in Himachal Pradesh, and the Basilica of Bom Jesus Church in Goa.

The program will also feature the announcement of 42 tourist destinations selected under the Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) Scheme, aiming to catalyze tourism development, promote sustainability, and usher competitiveness. These destinations are divided into categories such as Culture & Heritage, Spiritual, Ecotourism and Amrit Dharohar, and Vibrant Village.

In addition, the Prime Minister will launch the ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024′ initiative, a nationwide poll seeking citizens’ preferences for tourist attractions across categories like Spiritual, Cultural & Heritage, Nature & Wildlife, Adventure, and others. This initiative aims to engage citizens in identifying the most preferred tourist destinations and understanding tourist perceptions.

Simultaneously, the ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign’ will be launched, urging the Indian diaspora to become ambassadors for promoting tourism to India. This campaign aligns with the Prime Minister’s call to the diaspora to encourage at least five non-Indian friends to travel to India.

The program also includes the distribution of appointment orders to around 1,000 new government recruits in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, the Prime Minister will interact with beneficiaries of various government schemes, including women achievers, lakhpati didis, farmers, and entrepreneurs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Srinagar encompasses a diverse range of initiatives aimed at promoting agricultural development, enhancing tourism infrastructure, and engaging citizens in shaping the future of tourism in India. The holistic approach reflects the government’s commitment to comprehensive and sustainable development across various sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
