PM Modi Unveils and Commences Projects Valued at Rs 1,156 Crores in Kavaratti

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects valued at Rs 1,156 crores in Kavaratti today. Later in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a massive gathering of two lakh women from diverse backgrounds at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mahila Conference in Thrissur, Kerala. Thrissur city is adorned with banners and hoardings welcoming the Prime Minister, who will engage in road shows and public meetings. The event, named ‘Sthree Shakthi Modikk Oppam’ (Empower Women with Modi), is organized by the BJP’s Kerala unit to commend PM Modi for the successful passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in both Houses of Parliament. The gathering includes women from various walks of life, and the event will take place at Thekkinkadu ground today. PM Modi, who arrived in Lakshadweep yesterday, conducted a review meeting on aspects related to Lakshadweep’s progress. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated multiple development projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, and laid the foundation stone for others. The projects included the Demonstration Fast Reactor Fuel Reprocessing Plant (DFRP) at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research in Kalpakkam. Costing around Rs 400 crore, this facility is the world’s only industrial-scale plant capable of handling both carbide and oxide spent fuels from fast reactors. Additionally, he inaugurated the new terminal building at the Tiruchirappalli International Airport, the second-largest in Tamil Nadu for international traffic after Chennai. Built at a cost of over Rs 1,100 crore, the two-level terminal can serve more than 44 lakh passengers annually and about 3,500 during peak hours. Prime Minister Modi also dedicated multiple railway projects, including the doubling of the Salem-Magnesite Junction-Omalur-Mettur Dam section, the doubling of the rail line from Madurai to Tuticorin, and electrification projects for various rail lines. These initiatives aim to enhance rail capacity for freight and passengers, contributing to economic development and employment generation in Tamil Nadu.
