Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for various developmental projects in Jharkhand and West Bengal on Friday.
The Prime Minister Office announced that the Prime Minister will participate in a public program in Sindri, Jharkhand, where a number of nation-serving developmental projects in the fields of coal, power, rail, and fertiliser will be launched. The Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Ltd. (HURL) Sindri Fertilizer Plant will be dedicated by the prime minister to the country.
The fertiliser plant, which was built at a cost of over Rs 8,900 crore, is a step towards the urea sector’s self-sufficiency. It will benefit the nation’s farmers by increasing domestic urea production by roughly 12.7 LMT annually. According to the statement, this is the third fertilizer plant to be restored in the nation. The other two, in Gorakhpur and Ramagundam, were also dedicated to the country by the prime minister in December 2021 and November 2022, respectively.
In addition, the Prime Minister will lay the cornerstone and dedicate a number of rail projects in Jharkhand valued at over Rs 17,600 crore. The projects include, among others, the Dhanbad-Chandrapura rail line, the Mohanpur-Hansdiha new rail line, the Biratoli-Shivpur third railway line (part of the Tori-Shivpur Project), the third and fourth lines connecting Sone Nagar and Andal, and the first and second railway lines of the Tori-Shivpur Project. The state’s rail services will be increased by these projects, which will also boost the local economy.
During the program, the prime minister will also flag off three trains. This includes the long-haul freight train from Shivpur station, the Deoghar-Dibrugarh train service, and the MEMU train service between Tatanagar and Badampahar (daily). Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate significant power projects in Jharkhand, such as the 660 MW Unit 1 of the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (STPP), Chatra, to the nation.
“Developed at more than Rs 7500 crore, the project will lead to improved power supply in the region. It will also boost employment generation and contribute to socioeconomic development in the state,” PMO stated.
Also, the Prime Minister will also dedicate to nation projects related to the coal sector in Jharkhand.
Later, the Prime Minister will participate in a public programme where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 7,200 crore in Arambagh, Hooghly, West Bengal.
The prime minister will dedicate various development projects pertaining to rail, ports, oil pipelines, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment at Arambagh, Hooghly, and lay the foundation stone for them. The 518-kilometer Haldia-Barauni Crude Oil Pipeline, built by Indian Oil at an approximate cost of Rs 2,790 crore, will be officially opened by the prime minister. This pipeline travels through West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar. Through the pipeline, crude oil will be delivered in a safe, economical, and environmentally responsible manner to the refineries in Barauni, Bongaigaon, and Guwahati.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the nation and lay the cornerstone for several infrastructure-enhancement projects at Kolkata’s Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, which will collectively cost approximately Rs 1000 crore. The PMO said, “The projects whose foundation stone will be laid include mechanization of berth no. 7 and 8 NSD of the Kolkata Dock System and reconstruction of Berth No. 8 NSD.”
The third Rail Mounted Quay Crane (RMQC) at the Haldia Dock Complex, which can lift 40 tons, will be dedicated by the prime minister. The implementation of these new projects at Kolkata’s Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port will significantly increase productivity by facilitating quicker and safer cargo handling and evacuation. He will dedicate significant rail projects, estimated to be worth Rs 2680 crore, to the country.
