East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh – Police intercepted a van transporting gold and silver items during a routine vehicle inspection at a checkpoint in Pottilanka village, Kadiam Mandal. The van was stopped as part of the vehicle inspection protocol established on the national highway.
Ambika Prasad, DSP South Zone Rajamahendravaram, confirmed the seizure and stated that an inquiry would be conducted to determine the source and destination of the precious metals. “Upon discovering the gold and silver, the Returning Officer alerted the Flying Squad team and District Officers. Further actions will be taken after a thorough investigation by the concerned authorities and the District Grievance Committee,” Prasad said.
The police have initiated further investigations to ascertain the details and origins of the seized gold and silver items. Additional information regarding the incident is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
In a separate incident two days prior, the police seized 14 kilograms of cannabis from an RTC bus during a routine inspection at the Aganampudi toll plaza check post in Vishakhapatnam. The bus, travelling from Narsipatnam to Visakhapatnam, was stopped and inspected, revealing seven packages, each containing two kilograms of cannabis.
